Agreed - just attach a single wire under the IF board, so you can then 
put the board back and play with various solutions (the other end can be 
grounded to an IF board fixing screw).

W8JI's little network with two caps and two trimpots is built on a bit 
of veroboard (could easily have made it much bigger) and stuck down with 
a double-sided sticky fixer pad. The other end is grounded to a fixing 
screw.


Another lesson learned was to test it very slowly using a straight key.

Listen separately for the key-UP clicks, which are often worse than 
key-down. W8JI's trimpots allow the key-down and key-up clicks to be 
balanced out, which the Inrad mod cannot do, so it's well worth the 
small extra effort.
