Thanks everyone for coming to my rescue.
I think I now have a fairly good idea on what I need for my style of  
operating which is 99% cw 1% ssb.
I was hoping to have a k3 to evaluate on Cyprus when I operated C4i  
last weekend but it didn't happen. It would have been good to compare  
it against C4i"s FT2000 radio"s. (I have an ft2000D so know how to  
drive it)
Using 2 FT2000"s we had 7,399 qso"s and 16.3m points.
Great fun in the winters sun!!
