Interesting comments Malcolm. I had a thoroughly miserable time last night and was quite clearly not getting out from here. To confuse things GW0GEI over on the island of Anglesey about 15 miles away did pretty well and scored about 120 I think mainly running; OK he has a superior antenna for 80 but didn't think mine was *that* inferior with our respective scores for AFS cw being 245/234 last month. Could the snow have been doing something subtle..?? - nearby snow covered power lines etc? - swr seemed pretty normal.

The first half was mush/eu qrm and I struggled to hear most uk stations. Strangely it improved significantly later on and the Gs came right up and the noise/eu qrm dropped - but I still had problems raising anyone. A measly 34 here from 100 watts to a 102 foot doublet. Should have watched the telly....

Frustrated of Bangor,

Stewart Rolfe, GW0ETF
