It rather depends what you are operating at the end of this cable run, 
what regulation do you need? if you are operating relays  etc you might 
be able to raise the voltage a bit to accommodate the volts drop, you 
might want to send 24v down the cable and regulate at the far end..

Measure the loop resistance of a pair of conductors and can you supply 
more detail of what you are trying to do?
