[UK-CONTEST] "Bin my cards"...

Hello Chris,

I entirely agree. The new SCC calls will have been selected
in order to give the operator some hoped for advantage (i.e
ease of recognition, shorter call and/or rarer prefix) for
use in Contests. Great. No problem with that. But then to
say "stuff you Chaps, if you want a QSL" or words to that
effect by refusing to collect (and to reply to) cards from
the volunteer-run RSGB Sub-Bureau, does seem to be a trifle
lacking in generosity (known in our hobby as Ham Spirit).
Yes, as you say, there are still many who enjoy exchanging
and collecting QSLs, whether it's for a contest QSO or not.

This is another of the usual "I don't need the card so bin
it attitude" that most contesters have. I know it is hard to
believe but somewhere out there people do like to get cards
for their contest contacts - nice new prefix, new licencee's
first contact with UK, etc - and will send the card.

So please don't just bin them, it is just pure selfishness
if you do. But then maybe it is just me who thinks this as
society in general is very selfish now!!!

G'day,

Surely the downside is there will be people who want the SCC
card.
If the incoming just get binned at the bureau how's that
going to happen.
