If it ain't broke don't fix it.

I am not at all convinced that there is really a decline in activity in 
this event that we need to panic about. OK, the last hour or slow can be 
slow - so what? Those with the ability to find a few more QSOs in that 
period will win. Achieving the highest "rate" is not the only way to 
triumph.

As Peter suggested, many of us would not mind so much if the Contest had 
separate CW and SSB sections, like the 21/28 MHz event. Or better still, 
leave the CW events alone and introduce new events for SSB.

I am in favour of there being more contests for those who only operate 
SSB, I just don't see why it has to be at the expense of traditional CW 
events.

I also worry how many people will switch the Amp off and wind the rig 
down when QSY-ing to the SSB Sector - I was firmly of the opinion 
listening to the Club Calls Contest that a few "forgot" the power limit 
above 1840. Still, I am sure the Committee will be carefully monitoring!
