Dave,
Could I make a suggestion about how to handle the 80m AFS entries in
future.
The problem as I see it is that an entry system honed to the needs of
individual entries is being used for a team entry in which every member
needs to know which team he is in. OK, he will know he is in the Cray
Valley team but how does he/she find out if he/she is in the Cray
Valley A or Cray Valley B?
This is the weak point. When 80m AFS first started, team selection
was made by the adjudicator on the basis of the adjudicated scores. It
was only later that the team selection requirement was placed upon the
Clubs that entered.
A significant improvement would result from reverting to this original
system. Now that we are firmly in the realm of computer assisted
adjudication, there should be no real difficulty in deciding which team
(A, B etc) an entrant is part of, based on adjudicated scores. The
extra work load on the adjudicator becomes minimal and it stops a load
of to-ing and fro-ing within Clubs trying to decide the composition of
each team and then advising everyone of which team to state on their
entry. By which time of course, at least one entrant will have put his
log in with the wrong team designation.....!!!!
There would still be a need to send a blanket message regarding
eligibility and meeting place but this could now be independent of team
selection and a whole lot easier as a result.
I hope you find this helpful.
