[UK-CONTEST] 70MHz Noise level

At last, admission of higher noise levels on 4m in G. Our transmitters up
here may be working after all!!

I remember when I moved from Slough to here (just west of Cambridge) in the
mid 80's making the comment how nice and quite the bands are......
 
I wish - had an S7 noise level on 4M when I fired up the ancient gear for
the Trophy. Not much better on 2M either. Even get noise on 23cm!

"A definite rise in noise level" is that all? With my 4m Xvter I/P
terminated I see S1, with the beam connected the noise level averages
between
S2 (North W) & S5 (S & NE), this is general noise without any apparent
spectral peaks, on top of that there are various carriers across the band
(one on 70.2!).
  I wish that I'd taken some noise level readings before every house became
full of PC's & other electronic gadgets,  nearby there are now several
hundred houses on what were just orchards when we first moved here. If I
struggle  to copy some stations you now know why!
