Interesting conditions during last nights 70cms AC. As is our norm, we, and
not the royal 'we', started beaming north to pick off the many, many local
stations in IO83 and, in parallel, work any GMs who wondered by. By ten to
nine (having started at ten past eight) we'd managed to maintain over one
contact per minute, not bad for a 70cms contest, at which point things
became much slower. JO01 came along eventually and a very strong contact was
made with JO02, however, in general, contacts with stations south of
Birmingham were well down on usual both in terms of numbers and signal
strengths. Comparatively, GM produced a modest smorgasbord of contacts.
GI6ATZ was some way down on usual as well. M0GHZ was the last contact of the
evening, producing an additional multiplier. Sadly we missed G4KUX, in IO94,
who called us thinking we were calling cq, while trying to work M0GHZ, that
contact would have added another valuable multiplier - shame he didn't
stumble across us while we were beaming north for an extended period earlier
in the event..such is the way of things!
Looking forward to warmer, drier weather and longer days; this winter stuff
is wearing a bit thin!
