Gordon is correct - a private individual operating from
home cannot compete against against a SO entry from a
commercially supported club station, which G6PZ
undoubtedly is.  It's a fundamentally unequal contest.

Now, before you all jump down my throat, I operated
SOAB HP in ARRL DX from a "club" station (EI9E), although
not one that is commercially supported, but ended up with
only 2000 QSOs.  Trouble is, I need my sleep - I can't
manage anything close to 48 hours.  I suppose I'm just
not a contender.

Contesting at any level can be great fun. Unfortunately,
it is basically unregulated compared to most other
competitive sporting activities, and it is therefore
basically unfair.
