I must admit to being disappointed by some of the negative comments so far.
Let us see where we are coming from and what was the reality of the situation.
The 21/28 mhz contest was announced to be struck of the calendar. Owing to protests from members it has been reprieved thus far but we are aware that the committee are no longer pledged to support it. There were lots of suggestions on these pages and a desire from members for the event to be kick started from the top. As far as I am aware there has been only silence from those who administer it, so it staggers along in sufferance and apparent neglect.
Now we have two guys who are willing to devote considerable amounts of time to do something about it. Enjoyable though the contest has been it has had it's shortcomings and, as an overseas entrant I have often complained about the lack of participation from uk stns. There has also been the problem during the many middle years between sunspots when even 15 mt rs has been barely usable, a revamp was long overdue. The HFCC have a very valuable date on the contest calendar for this event. Don't blow it away by imagining that the 21/28 will go on and on, it won't, by next period around sunspot minima it will be dead and buried.
This proposal provides an opportunity to fly the flag, look how successful small national societies such as the ON contest, are! Britain just does not appear in these Olympics
Don't hanker after yesterday, give these guys all the support that they need and at same time appreciate how they will be freeing up time for the committee to do all their remaining work..
At this initial stage of the proposal what the committee needs to hear from membership is the strength of support and nit picking through different rules, section classes etc, can be done over time, let us see support in principal.
