[UK-CONTEST] Where are the UBNs published

I can see Clive Ws point of view that not everyone would like this. But if ops, whether new to the hobby or not, can't handle this then perhaps this is not a contest for them. Football results get published at all levels of divisions.

Contest operating is all about accurate operating and there will be errors. The new contesters should respect the format of publishing this information (and in my experience they mainly do). This is very useful to the newbie and is a form of motivation, and an opportunity, to show just how well they've done to improve next time around. This also goes towards reducing the temptation by some to break the rules.

Also, if a newbie has a very good UBN, I'm sure they wouldn't mind sharing this good result.

I regard the forge QSL point invalid for this discussion. Offenders of this can get much more information all the time by just switching on the radio.

When I was a newbie, I admired the amazing slick operators and actually loved to see my UBN gradually get better over time. Its what its all about! Let's encourage openness, honesty and good adjudication at the same time as providing all operators, regardless of their experience, the opportunity to improve. The more these are practised, in my opinion at least, the better!

Clive I don't remember you being QRV in these 80m events but I would say the
whole series has now moved on beyond the initial efforts of new entrants.
For example the average cw speed has gone up over the last two years.
When 80m CC entrants join major contests they will have to contend
with getting things right, and the CC objectives should be to achieve a
higher standard of operating by UK entrants.

Why on earth, would you want a UBN of a newbie operator to be published
( and after all aren't the RSGB CCs explicitly for them really )?

As an OF operator , if I make mistakes I can live with that, and frankly
don't care what anyone else thinks about me. ( one of the few upsides of
getting old ! )

But, if I were a contest newcomer ,especially in CW mode, I'd be very
disheartened and dispirited to to see my faux pas published.

CQWW is a big boys' event, so if you don't like the heat, stay out of
the kitchen, but RSGB training events such as these are totally different.

Openness and transparency should be assessed in context imo. One size
never fitted all.
