I disagree.
I rather think that the DARC rules force the entrants to operate within
a frame work that focuses on the skill of the operator in a portable or
temporary location, using reasonably inexpensive equipment. After all
isn't that one of the purposes of contesting...operating skill?
I have said this before, but, I think the Open section in the RSGB SSB
FD should be just that, completely open, a technical free for all,
(within the rules of your license that is).
The remaining section (s) should promote simple stations, either Cluster
assisted or not and QRP or Low Power. To this end I think DARC have it
right.
I think what you describe (two interlocked TX's by the way, I thought
the FD Rules state only one transmitter with the second Transmitter in a
Transceiver disabled...) which for me, and I guess many others, is a
distraction from the simplicity of FD, which after all, is part of the
attraction of Field Day operations.
