[VHFcontesting] 6m Dominant

Steve,

I Feel your PAIN but would never remove 6 meter from the contest. I still
found time to work 6 meters and 6 other bands during the contest. Some years
6 does not open very well in June and as in any contest you need to adapt to
the conditions. Not knowing what band condition will be is part of the fun.

I like working the higher frequencies also and hoping to pick up a new grid
from those that are roving or on the mountain tops. Several years back,
there was not a multi limited category, which meant you ran every band you
had. The reason it was changed is to allow the 3 or 4 guy groups to do a
multi-op and not get beaten by the larger multi-op groups (every time). The
CQ VHF contest only has 2 bands and it comes up in July for those that like
the lower frequencies and the August ARRL contest is for 222 and up so we
already have a good selection of categories and contest to meet many
operators needs.

I think your intent is to increase the higher band activity in June which a
VERY good thing. Personally, if you lived near enough to me, I would have
worked you on every band I could, regardless of how 6 meters opened. The
higher band q's still count more points per qso and adds another multiplier
so if there are those that do not take advantage of operating the higher
bands they are loosing some score by just being on 6 meters too much. It is
all part of the fun to plan strategy to improve the score.
