Shielded is always better than un shielded especially when it comes to data
connections in an excessive rf situation this I have recommended to
companies I have carried consultancy's for as a freelance Network consultant
and when it comes to my shack all my computer connection are shielded and I
have two servers a couple of workstations plus network and ADSL (broadband)
routers  and I can say I have never had any RF problems

I've cleaned up some rfi on computer interfaces by using CAT5 for the
connection. Twisted pairs are always better than non-twisted pairs for
RF rejection. The CAT5 I've used so far is un-shielded, and while an
improvement over the non-twisted, shielded cable, is still not
completely clean with all combinations of antennas and operating
frequencies. My next step will be shielded CAT5.
