reluctance to answer questions, a serious

when I was typing up my answer to Dan's 
question.

Many 811a amplifiers layouts have been made 
through the years... Just thumbing through a 
1977 ARRL Handbook and saw a dual 572b 
amp on 160 which is a similar design.

?  The problem is not grid-sag, it is filament sag when the filament is 
hot.  The W-shaped filament sags no matter how it is oriented, but when 
the W is vertical, the filament-to-grid spacing is not affected, so there

is no problem.
