As I reflect on what I do in my conversions I really don't see anything that
can be considered "wrong" in design. If there is something wrong I
certainly don't know what it is. Maybe Carl knows? But I sure don't.
I'll admit that the amplifier if handled wrong could be problematic so
therefore I include proper operating instructions with my units. But could
this
be considered any more wrong then to advise someone NOT to run a tetrode into
a high degree of grid current? Doing so causes problems, so we don't do it.
It's always the same old story when this issue comes up. I can tell you
that there have been threads on this reflector for years that come up time and
again, the same people say the same things all the time, no one ever gives
in. When I was new here about 15 years ago I eventually saw the issues (like
this one) that were beaten to death by a particular few on opposing sides.
Being "green" at all this I had to draw my own conclusions on who I sided
with. And side I did! I have been around long enough now to be able to make
my
own decisions that I feel comfortable with. The problem is that there are a
lot of hams in the wings here that are faced with the same dilemma I was
faced with years ago. On this particular issue I urge those out there
standing
by and may be confused to ask yourself. What makes sense here? If you are
