One option you can homebrew is to cut a 1.5 inch hole in the panel, mount a
piece of plastic behind that and then mount a standard banana jack in the
center.

In order to prevent contact with a partially removed plug, you should also mount
a shroud around the jack. A piece of plastic pipe a couple of inches long
should do. Glue the pipe to the plastic backing piece before mounting. Use a
pipe diameter small enough so that when the plug is in place, no one could stick
a finger in there.

Test the glue joint carefully to make sure it will not break even under heavy
stress. If you use PVC for both pieces, you can get PVC cement that is very
strong because it actually melts the PVC and fuses it much like a weld.
