Because as usual you edited my post to suit your biases or shortcomings.
Note that I specified use by an intelligent individual........who hopefully
understands what he is doing, isnt a falling down drunk or suffers from
health issues such as dizziness or seizures.
Those unable or unwilling to use those connectors can do whatever they wish,
even you Bill.
The post in question is as follows and I would appreciate responders not
editing it.
Using a PL-259/SO-239 with RG-213 is entirely safe as a HV conduit. Its
danger is being mistaken for the RF cable as well as the center pin leading
the parade.
Used by an intelligent individual, with Amphenol or other quality brand
connectors, phenolic or Teflon, there is no reason to not use them at around
2500/4500V respectively. If cable prep is improper thats what HV fuses are
for. Dont use old used cable or connectors, start with all new. Ive yet to
experience any RG-8/213 shield breakage in over 50 years of RF use so there
is no reason to expect it at HV if assembled properly.
Lets quit worrying about other people and worse case scenarios and other
nanny and socialist state blathering. Let individuals be responsible for
their own actions. The shaky kneed individuals can build as they see fit.
Better still if size and weight is an issue, remote only the transformer.
With modern caps the PS board doesnt take up much room or weight in a table
top cabinet and we no longer have to argue about ground and B- issues. Ive
been using the Amp Supply PAC-5 remote transformer box since 1987, thats
240VAC down and 2160VAC back up. I installed a HV fuse in one HV lead in the
box, it hasnt blown yet.
And as Ive mentioned on here in the past the 3900VDC to the 2M amp has been
carried by RG-213 and HN connectors for over 25 years. Based upon those
threads I recently hi-potted the assembly and its still holding up fine at
13kV, the limit of the tester.
