You will be safe at 1000W if the blower is set to high speed (depending upon the vintage of the amp), is clean, oiled as well as clean tube fins.

With a well used tube keep it down at 750W.

I want to know what is a reasonable power level for the AL-1200 in a RTTY Contest.

Yes, I know I can search the archives. I tried that and it's impossible to sort through all the bull$#!^ posts. I'm going to open my station up for a RTTY contester guest op. Make your own reasonable assumtions about duty cycle. Please give me just a number of watts output I should limit the amp to. I'll take the low side average of all responses.
