Are you getting confused with PSK-31 or something?  100 watts RTTY would get
you nowhere in a contest or pile up.

... and doesn't running the legal limit in RTTY mode defeat the purpose of
the mode, which is that with RTTY you can work the world with as little as
100 watts.  Relatively easy to do when compared to running the same power on
SSB.
