I don't record contests either, but for those who record them as .mp3 files,
there is a shareware program called GoldWave which allows you to speed up or
slow down the recording, or even just a portion of it.  Get it at:
www.goldwave.com

I'd recommend recording in segments of a half hour or so, rather than the whole
contest in one file.  Processing would take quite a while if you did.
