Cost of QSL cards (no longer needed) last time I ordered them $0.10 (ordered
in 1000 qty)
Cost of postage for US cards $0.37 (to send card and sase), dx are $0.80
Cost of postage for SASE $0.37, dx add $1
Cost of envelopes $0.06
Cost of labels $0.10
Total cost of above items required per domestic QSL $1, dx QSL $2.06 (other
misc items probably raise this over $1?)

Cost of my time now saved, priceless!

Not to mention the number of $1/$2.06 attempts that lead to no qsl.

Lotw is only $0.15 to $0.22 per confirmed qso (qsl equivalent) and there are
no wasted attempts that go in the garbage. Even at the most expensive...
isn't ($0.22 << $1) and ($0.22 << $2.06)?

The cost of the award is still the same... because the cost of the plaque
(or whatever) hasn't changed... that shouldn't be a surprise.

What about the cost of the server? The cost of the storage? The cost of
the software? The cost of the administrator? The cost of the ____?

Seems to me that if you are into awards, $0.22 per qso to get WAS or $0.20
to get DXCC are a great bargain. Not to mention your time saved.
