On the one hand - I agree with you Paul, it isn't exactly what I signed on for.
Yet, on the other hand, if it takes cheating to motivate for the advancement of
technology...
the when it gets to be popular, make it not cheating, very easy to do.... place
it in its own
catagory and put in a couple thousand points for incentive. Make it well known,
to all...
such that it would be similar to assisted, or MS, or ?? take your pick. But
take it outta the
realm of new.... then the motivation is gone on to something new....
maybe something better... like a LEOS with 17 band simultaneous operation, with
gain antennas, and 15 kw out on each,
and remote it from...? Then, in a couple years, when they are all over the
sky... the next one could be on the moon, and shortly
afterward, one on Mars.... Then of course there will also be the glass bound
operations, where there will be no radiated rf at all.
Run on Morse Express, but exchange the scores and band conditions, over the
internet. No problem in a few years after that, the rush will
become how to make radios that actually talk..... to each other, .... through
the AIR!!!!...
It is kinda like clothes... keep em long enough, they come back in style....
so...
I for one, plan to hang onto my K2, Icom, Heathkit, Yeawood, ATs and QRP+ and
wait til it comes around again.
In the meantime.... you may find me pretty much lower on the bands.... lower in
freq, speed, and power. Hardly ever above .075, 25 - 35 wpm and many times at
20 or lower, and pretty much less than 5 watts.
and as has been said before... Ya'll come by now, Y'hear?
