Its actually called the CQ World Wide DX Contest. The reason that domestic
contacts do not count for points should be quite clear based on the actual
name of the contest.
I believe the rules were amended for the RTTY contest because there was
initially so little participation that it needed an enhancement to be
viable. If its now become much more popular, the CQ WW DX RTTY should
actually consider adopting the traditional rules.
Find a contest that suits your style and location and enjoy.
