The rules for CQWW 160 2018 state:
- Remote operation for categories other than *Single Operator Unassisted*
is permitted under the following conditions:
- The use of any receiver located away from the main site is strictly
prohibited.
- The use of a separate receiver at the remote control location is
prohibited.
- Any receiver linked via the Internet or RF not physically located at
the main site is strictly prohibited.
- If the remote station is located in another DXCC entity, it is
required to comply with all local country regulations.
By implication, this means that "Single Operator Unassisted" is not
permitted for remote stations.
It would be much simpler to state "Remote operation is not permitted for
Single operator Unassisted" category.
1. Am I reading the rule incorrectly?
2. If I am reading it correctly, WHY such a rule? The only reason I can
think of is to protect those who operate in the category and want to retain
their status -- don't let a talented remote op infringe on their
territory. (For example, the RHR station in Maine).
I operate from the Arctic remotely, and will never have a big enough score
to be truly competitive, but I wholeheartedly disagree with a rule that has
no basis in reality.
