We have a recessed can light in our shower. The tag inside states that
a 60 W incandescent in the max it can accomodate, but even a 60 W

equivalent 42 W CFL, but they don't last long.
We have all CFLs through the house. Excluding the garage (4 150W equiv)
and basement (14 4' fluorescent tubes) , Out of 17, I've only had 2
fail in the last 2.5 to 3 years. I only have a single sub mounted CFL
(in a can) over the shop entrance.. It's been on pretty much 24 X 7 X
365 for a good 3 to 4 years. The main lights in the shop are 22 full
spectrum 75 Watt, 8' tubes and the electric use shows I spend a lot of
time out here <:-)) .
None of the CFLs or tubes can be heard, AM broadcast through 440.
The "turn out the lights every time you leave the room" is a guarantee
of a short life for a CFL, so the Many off/on cycles of a bathroom light
would mean a short life although the newer ones are lasting longer.
LEDs are "expensive", but last a long time and use little power and
"they should" get much cheaper over the next few years as production
ramps up.

Based on what I've seen here, I went to Home Depot and snagged a Cree
75W equivalent (18 W consumption) flood light. It is quite bright
and, as far as I can tell, RF-quiet at HF. I listened on on the AM BC
band and 160-10 m during the day (so 80 and 160 are quiet) and heard
nothing from it it. I also hear nothing from it on 2 m or 20 cm. So
far, so good!
