That is what a well designed AGC circuit is for. Any well-designed AGC
circuit should allow you to be able to receive a 25-35 db over S-9 signal
with no noticeable distortion. If you need to switch in the attenuator on a
30 db over S-9 signal then the AGC circuit needs some improving. Possibly a
simple improvement could be made by changing the actual AGC threshold point
just a little by the firmware's engineering department. Don / WA9TGT
