100 watts is fine if you have the best (efficient) mobile HF antennas, or
use portable ops with wire dipoles.  You have to work the propagation
against the clock and appropriate band.  There will be some time in 24 hours
you may not get thru.  The sunspots will recover eventually.

If you run more than 100 watts in a mobile you are asking for serious
troubles with the vehicle onboard computers, electronics in fuel pumps, etc.
in today's cars.

Plus, you will be running your battery down a lot like we did in the
dynamotor days of tube radios!
