Donald,

The 250hz filter has an 11.5 db insertion loss compared to the 500hz
filter's 5.5 db. In short, the heard sound from the 500hz filter should be
louder and approximately 2 S units higher than the 250 hz filter.

I had the same issues you describe with a 250 hz filter. I isolated the
problem by soldering a shorting wire across each crystal until the heard
signal strength came way up. I found that one crystal caused the greatest
loss in heard signal strength. I removed the crystal and trailing capacitor
from my filter and I am using it in my Corsair II now. Granted, it does not
have the 250hz width but it does restrict offending signals more than my
500hz filter.

I called TT and was told that they do not stock repair parts for the
filters, nor do they repair the filters. I did not ask the 3rd party
supplier was able to repair theses filters.
