Commerical audio cable is typically a twisted pair in a vinal jacket depending on application. I've never tried the twisted pair for a transmission line but my DX-35 almost never saw coax. It loved the old zip cord with one conductor stuck into the SO-239 center hole and the other tied to chassis. circa 1958....... regards, Bob K4BG ----- Original Message ----- From: "Jim WA9YSD" <wa9ysd@yahoo.com>

The problem with Lamp cord (Zip Cord), certain speaker cord, it does not stand up to the sun light, and it is lossy from what I have heard.

Zip cord as far as I can remember has always been used for speaker cord. Very few lamps these days use it, mostly speaker wire. UL has been requiring 3 conductor cable cause of the ground wire requirement.
