Phil,

I have a "Center Fed Zepp" that presents an inconvenient feedline end impedance
to my tuner on 40 meters, so I add an extra quarter wave, about 33 feet, of 450
ohm ladder line to the end of the feedline for that band. I just run that 33
feet of line as a loop around the outside wall of my house, supported on
several standoff insulators. If you can't find any commercial standoffs, you
can easily make some out of slotted PVC pipe.

  Hi Bob,

Thanks for the help. I have a guy with a rig on the 2nd floor using home made
ladder line consisting of #12 wire spaced a 4in. Feedline runs perhaps 10 ft
before it splits off (corner fed) into the loop.

No balun at all. Fed right off the ladder line. I suspect the length of the
loop may have to be adjusted. Short of hanging line out of a second floor
window, I don't have a clue how to add more feed line.
