  Thanks, everyone, for your "enlightning" comments on the matter. I figured 
the noise was due to induced voltages on something, probably the wiring, but 
I never figured it would be that great to generate an arc from so great a 
distance.
  I've learned a great deal over the years on this site on the nature of 
different materials, proper construction techniques, how to deal with TVI, 
zoning issues, etc. even if the matter currently under discussion doesn't 
affect me at the time. What a great site!
