Yes, make the vertical section as high as possible with in inverted L and a 
1/4 wl vertical wire is even better.  I had a 160m vertical wire at my last 
house supported by one of my tower guy wires and it worked great, even with 
a much less than perfect ground system.

Hello All,
    I've got a question, concerning the inverted L antenna. In all the books
I've found, it states that one wants the vertical section "As high as
possible". If one had a 133' tree or tower, would it just be wise to run all
the wire vertically, instead of vertically and horizontally?
