Here's what I have on my site:

Serial and Parallel Ports [Ports]

There are 4 âslotsâ available for WriteLog rig interfacing. By default,
CommSlot1 is COM1:, but you can change that by changing the number on the
right of the equal sign. These settings are not used for RTTY or for packet

CommSlot1=1
CommSlot2=2

In this example, the third and fourth slots are on COM7 and COM8. COM15 is
as high as is supported.

CommSlot3=7
CommSlot4=8
=========================

So it is in the "ports" section of the writelog.ini file. If the "comslot"
lines don't exist, go ahead and add them into that section.

In the Ports section of setup, once you restart WriteLog after editing the
writelog.ini file, you will see Comm 8 or whatever your number is show up
on the screen.

I think the RIG portion mentioned below is when you want to set the speed
and parity, but not change the "comslot" as done in the Ports section of
the writelog.ini file.

It seems, Gary, that the commslot command in the Ports section isn't
translating with your setup. You may want to rename your WriteLog.ini file
to something else, have WriteLog create a new one by opening the program,
then do the comslot piece and see if that helps. I wouldn't automatically
assume it is Vista, but it is the variable at the moment. Getting a clean
ini file will help tell us.

Hope this helps,

Scot, K9JY
