My .02: Heat can be a factor, and lacking enough voltage headroom with respect to the capacitor voltage rating can definitely be a factor. Suggest using caps rated for 105 degree C and increasing the

I will guess that anything made by Harris is very conservatively rated. I think the Harris RF-110 amplifier is only rated at a kilowatt pep output; it uses a pair of 4CX1500's for finals! Russ KW6T _
