- I am new to this reflector, so I imagine this one has been asked many times before. I am interested in hearing what the consensus is for the best HF amplifier on the market today. 10 years ago, I sol

- Herb I am an owner of an ALPHA 77DX AND a 87A. The 77dx I've had since 1983. It's a great amp especially for one who wants to contest 48 hours and not worry about "blowing things up". However, having

- Every amplifier has pluses and minuses Herb. The reason for this is cost. A curve of amplifiers sold versus cost appears as an exponential downward curve as cost rises. You just have to decide what

- In fact, a pretty good case can be made that the SB-220/TL-922/L4/L7 class of amps, bought used (what else?), are easily the best value going. Where else can you get a dB for $40-50? I can buy a lot

- I agree, Mr Rauch, cost is a factor. However, there are exceptions. Applying more than Eimac's rated voltage to the filament or heater is definitely a minus. {DTR-2000, TL-922, some SB-1000s, Sigma,
