I run into this all the time because some of my tinned boards sit around a while before they're populated. Rub a piece of 1500 to 2000 grit paper across them and the solder will jump on 'em. Phil C.

A Scotchguard (tm) pad is a good way to polish a dirty board. If the board has coatings over the areas NOT to be soldered, then you may have to cut a pad up into smaller pieces to polish small areas

Good point, although if a board is really badly oxidized, you may need the greater "tooth" of the green pad. White pads for light oxidation, if swabbing the board does not work. For non masked boards
