Marv,

Thanks much for pointing out where the "real" information is ... although
"A3J" is nowhere to be found ... here is the text for SSB (supressed
carrier) transmission:

>"Telephony, single-sideband suppressed  B<INF>n</INF>=M-lowest modulation
frequency        M=3000, lowest >modulation frequency is 3000 Hz,   2K70J3E
> carrier.
2700 Hz Bandwidth: 2700Hz=2.7 kHz

>[[Page 547]]"

I wonder if anyone has pointed out the typo where it states "lowest
modulation frequency is 3000 Hz," ?
Lowest modulation frequency should read 300 HZ .... M=3000 - 300Hz = 2.7
khz.

Lets don't tell the HIFI audio guys that they cannot transmit anything below
300 HZ or any wider signal than 2.7 Khz.

I am still trying to figure out Tom's statement: "(A3J means 3kHz wide)"
.... there is no "J" symbol for the 3rd identifier.

Where they DO spec 3 khz of bandwidth for SSB FULL CARRIER it reads:

>"Telephony, single-sideband, full       B<INF>n</INF>=2M
M=3000, Bandwidth: 3000 Hz=3 >kHz                  3K00H3E
 >carrier."
