I recall a maxim of some good time ago that postulated power tubes (valves)
can be likened to women. One is very nice, two might at first seem like it
would be even nicer, however there are pitfalls for the unwary. As a
consequence one is the recommended choice for most. If you really must have
two then be sure to keep them in separate houses where they cannot see each
other.

Here are my 3 cents worth, following Roger's 2 cents.
There are maxims developed over 50 years:
1. The more complex a project is, the less likely it is to get built.
2. The power dissipation of the tube is often less restrictive than the air
and power supply capability.
3. Having a pair of tubes is somewhat like having twin children - it takes
extra work to know which to blame if something goes wrong (I am a twin, I
know).
