Actually - this isn't true - when you throttle at the CPE using karlnet
it DROPS the packets, thus causing retransmissions.

Most packages that throttle using windowing and can slow down the
transfer with out dropping packets

What I should have stated is that you should throttle at both the CPE
and the NOC -----

Hello,

I have asked precisely this to Karlnet and they sustain the polling algorithm is used to limit throughput and that no packet dropping (or retransmits) occur.

Therefore, I would propose that a "official" answer be queried from Karlnet?

Says who? What a waste.
Karlnet throttles at the CPE - saves a lot of wasted air time.

Its better to throttle at your NOC not your AP or CPE

First of all, you cannot set different up/down rates. There is one

rate,

and this is what it is.

The RADIUS info is on their website somewhere - but their examples

don't

work. When asking their support team for support, they offer up

generic

responses and never really help you.

We've been trying to get it to work for months (with the help of

some

people
who have been using RADIUS for 10 years) and never been able to make

the

throttling work. The authentication works, but not the throttling.

Hello there

I've heard one could use RADIUS to turn on the shaping
feature of TC (i.e. a client having only 128Kbps download
and 64Kbps upload)

can any of you point me on instructions about this matter?

from where can I download the dictionary entries for karlnet?
any usage examples?

TIA, MBR,
