Is the Centurian essentially instant on? I have an
AL-80B and a AL-1500. I tend to almost exclusively
use the 80B because I can just set the load and tune,
flip on the amp and in about ten seconds be
transmitting. Also I REALLY like the quietness of the
80B compared to the external anode tube. I've had
both for over ten years and both have the same tube as
when new.
How does the Centurian stack up on the "instant on"
issue and how quiet is it? For me quiet operation and
ease of operation trumps tubes that last 30 years.
