I will my two cents worth… maybe it will help.
I don’t know if this will work with this application, but a Staedtler eraser
(white eraser) works very well on cleaning gold contacts. I used this method
to clean the contacts on plug in boards. Just be careful of the excess, but it
shines up the gold contacts very nicely.
