The last pair of 3-500's I purchased from R F Parts were of Russian origin as I recall. I purchased their Matched Pair brand because of their 2 year warranty as opposed to the other brand which had a 1 year warranty.

So I suppose one pays their money and takes their choice or chance as one may have it.

RF Parts carries (or rather carried) a wide variety of selection of 3-500
tubes, including their own brand.
Over the years they had to drop most of the sources because they ceased
production.
They also changed their supplier for their own brand at least twice.
There was indeed a time, (long ago) when their own brand had a poor
reputation.
However they improved their quality.

The problem today is, we don't have much choice.

I'm not convinced that the old Eimacs were the best.
They had the big fins but the anode was not of graphite.

IMO the Amperex with graphite was a better choice. Its rating was actually
600w rather than 500w.
However if you read on eHam, it only has a 3.3 rating.

The trouble with eHam is, many times, only the disappointed buys post a
report.
I don't place much trust in eHam numbers.
