Due to the non linearity of the diode formed by corrossion of two different
metals, like zinc and copper, or alu.
High in the air on bad antennae connections this phenomea we heard of in
the early fifties. Anecdote, corroded antennae on the east coast produced
disturbing signals on the west coast.
