Tom,
I had a similar problem not too long ago. I had loaded the mast as I
pushed it up, with the HF antenna being the last antenna up and to be at the
bottom of the mast. Hindsite being 20:20, I might have been able to get the
HF antenna up if I had put it up first and pushed the mast up thru it,
loading the mast as it went up.
Anyhow, I thought about using a boom truck but found that I had room for
the antenna ( C4-SXL ) or the boom truck but not both! Ended up hiring a
crane and he was able to reach over the garage from the alley to pick the
antenna and lift it into position. Less than an hour on site. Normal charge
for this 100 foot crane was $100/hr with a 2 hr minimum. The gut cut me a
break as it was a non-commercial install and only charged me an hour but I
would have gladly paid the full bill because of the way things went
together. My only regret was not having done it a month earlier instead of
the 3 or 4 failed attempts I made before admitting I was going to need
mechanical help.
