Here in the Phoenix area, property literally sells in hours. Only after making 
an offer...and waiting for a week or 2...do you get the CCR info.  If you're 
prepared to wait months, while housing prices increase at 1%/month, that's 
fine.  Unfortunately, it seems about 70% of houses in the area have  HOA's and 
of those that have some land attached, most have some kind of CCR's even if 
they don't have HOA's. 

That's one reason the ARRL has been trying to push Congress to restrict the 
ability of builders and HOA's to put CCR's restricting antennas in their plans. 
Almost ALL new housing has these restrictions. Builders and HOA's aren't fools 
and they know what sells. CCR's wouldn't exist if the market didn't demand 
them. Unfortunately, it's an example of the herd mentality so common in the US 
today.
