The LP antennas do what they are meant to do: cover all frequencies in their
range. Maybe we don't need that and should pin point the maximum whatever.
The SteppIR is a really good choice...and maybe with some EZNEC work an added
element could really shine.
But for height: A quick look at any antenna book will show the futility of a
magic height over flat ground. All over the place.
But for fun: Model a Yagi at the edge of a 30 to 40 degree slope and check the
vertical pattern for various heights for various bands. Hint: Start at 40
feet. Something interesting happens. Check out Moxon's book. Of course, then
you lose the ability to rotate the antenna to other directions unless you are
on a cone.
