Yes, the Friend file WILL work under Win7, but you need to make sure you have
Writelog installed anywhere BUT under C:\program Files!
Mine is in C:\Ham
The Writelog INI file is located here:
C:\Users\[name]\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Windows
where [name] is your name - you will see other options here, such as All Users,
Default, Default User, Guest, Public, and UpdatusUser as well.
Open Writelog INI and under [Configuration] place a line at the end like this:
HI_SECTION=HI
That will now call upon the Friend.INI file, which you must place into the
directory where WriteL32.exe exists (ie the Programs subfolder).
Having said all that, I thought I read somewhere that WL now doesn't use this
INI file, but it is a place to start!
If you really need a copy of Friend.INI I can send you one, but it is much
better to generate your own.
I have compiled mine from regular contacts, and folk I know from contesting,
but that is my preference.
Some friend files have CLUB instead of a name, usually where the callsign
belongs to a club call, but using CLUB as the name ain't that good!
