.  The directly-grounded screen-resonance was presumably a bit too close 
to the anode-resonance, so adding reactance in the screen circuit helped 
to improve isolation between the anode and grid.  .  My guess is that a 
directly-grounded screen would be best for  50-54MHz operation of the 
8281.  A dipmeter is useful for making this determination.
